From a business perspective, it was an easy decision. All of our lawyers and other team members at LCN Legal work remotely the majority of the time, and many of our clients are based outside the UK, with much of our communication with clients being conducted by telephone and email. We regularly facilitate seminars and workshops for property professionals and for teams of tax advisers in private practice, and this usually involves some travel for some of the participants, or else the sessions are run by telephone or video conference. So there’s no particular business or client advantage in us being based in London, or anywhere else for that matter.
From a family perspective, the decision was slightly harder. Two of our girls, Coco and Norah, were very happy at a wonderful school in Blackheath Village, and we were reluctant to move them. However, we had already tried (and enjoyed) moving the household and office temporarily to Bordeaux, France (you can read an article about it here). And for us, the attractions of moving to West Sussex are:
- There are lots of good schools which are cheaper and easier to get into than schools in London, and with much better facilities.
- It’s a beautiful part of the World.
- Life’s too short not to try something which feels right.
