New vacancy at LCN Legal: Mid level / senior corporate lawyer

LCN Updates

14 June 2021

Summary of new vacancy: mid level / senior corporate lawyer

LCN Legal is seeking a mid level / senior corporate solicitor / associate to join our dynamic and ambitious team.

We offer a unique combination of benefits, including a clear route to partnership:

  • Direct exposure to a diverse range of multinational corporate groups and household names globally (including in North America, EMEA and APAC), with the ability to contribute to the development of those relationships.
  • Pro-active coaching and support to achieve partnership, including proven approaches for business development.
  • Bespoke training in a niche and highly valuable area of international corporate legal practice (namely the legal implementation of transfer pricing compliance).
  • The ability to work from home (or any other suitable location).
  • A friendly and supportive culture.
  • The opportunity to help shape the growth and development of an award-winning and world-leading team.

The successful applicant must have a solid grounding in the management and delivery of corporate projects, and experience in managing and developing client and referral partner relationships. Equally important is adaptability and enthusiasm for the opportunity to grow within a niche corporate practice which has huge opportunities for UK and global expansion.

Experience of transfer pricing compliance and international group structures would be an advantage but is not essential.

About LCN Legal

LCN Legal is a fast growing and award-winning boutique law firm, recognized internationally as leading the way in the legal design of group and supply chain structures for multinational groups. With a general focus on corporate and investment structures, we concentrate primarily on:

  • The legal implementation of group and supply chain reorganisations for multinational groups.
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining intercompany agreements for transfer pricing compliance.
  • M&A transactions (domestic and cross-border).
  • General corporate and commercial matters.
  • Property investment structures, including the establishment of funds, syndicates and joint ventures.

In 2020 we won the Law Society Award for Excellence in International Legal Services and we have recently been shortlisted for the Legal Business Awards to be announced in September 2021.

More information about LCN Legal, our client projects and team can be found on this website.

The role

The successful applicant will be responsible for, among other things:

  • Leading the day-to-day progress and management of corporate reorganisation and M&A projects, with support and guidance from the relevant LCN director or partner.
  • Acting as the main contact for clients on corporate projects, and ensuring that excellent customer experience is provided, in addition to the development and deepening of business relationships.
  • Liaising with our clients’ advisers (such as tax and transfer pricing professionals) to ensure that the service we provide is responsive and collaborative.
  • Analysing proposed transactions, scoping out the legal workstreams and commenting on legal feasibility issues at each stage of a project.
  • Drafting (and negotiating where required) corporate transaction documents, and liaising with other professionals such as tax and transfer pricing advisers.
  • Drafting, reviewing and finalising transaction steps lists, corporate documents, commercial contracts, loan agreements and loan note instruments, intercompany agreements, corporate resolutions and other legal documents.
  • Managing client take on processes, preparing engagement letters and requesting, checking and filing know your client (KYC) compliance documents.
  • Managing budgets, billing, recovery rates and cash collection with support from relevant internal teams.
  • Working alongside the broader LCN team on particular projects and firm initiatives.
  • Participating in and supporting workshops, international conferences and webinars provided to clients, prospects and referral partners of LCN Legal.
  • Developing new and existing client and referral partner relationships.

More important is the ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic, a proactive sense of initiative including when working remotely, and a genuine interest in working with our team and helping us to grow the firm and each of our practice areas.

Competencies needed

  • Qualified and admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Robust analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills (oral and written).
  • An ability to work independently with confidence and to prioritise multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Experience of managing a team of more junior lawyers on large projects, including in a remote environment (an advantage but not a pre-requisite).
  • Experience of legal due diligence / commercial contract reviews in the context of M&A transactions (an advantage but not a pre-requisite).
  • Strong data processing skills – some of our work involves reading extensive transfer pricing reports and summarising key relevant information.
  • Experience of drafting and tailoring complex legal documents.
  • A high level of competence with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and online platforms such as SharePoint.
  • Experience using social media for professional and business development purposes.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
  • An eagerness to learn new skills and to grow with the firm.

Remote working and the need to accommodate time zones

All of LCN Legal’s staff work remotely, and this was the case even before Covid-19. Successful candidates must therefore be able to provide a suitable home office environment. Once Covid-19 restrictions allow, generally we meet as a team at least once per month and we have regular weekly (or, at times, daily) client project and leadership video calls. During normal times, we also meet more regularly for client and referral partner meetings.

As much of our work is for clients based outside of Europe, we often need to be flexible when arranging the times for calls with clients and referral partners. The Americas and APAC are our fastest-growing markets, and so this flexibility may mean working later or earlier in the day at times. We also provide a significant amount of support for clients and advisers in the APAC region.

What we offer

For the right candidate, we offer a welcoming and supportive team environment including:

  • Direct contact with executives and senior professionals within large multinational corporate groups and household names globally (many of the projects we work on have no connection with the UK).
  • Comprehensive training in a niche and high value area of legal practice and strategy (we are the leading experts globally on the legal implementation of transfer pricing), with active support and encouragement from the team so that you can significantly increase your skill base and raise your personal profile in the market (an opportunity for corporate lawyers to stand out from the crowd).
  • A wide variety of projects and legal experience.
  • The opportunity to carve out and develop your role and career within LCN Legal.
  • Future opportunities for promotion within a very fast growing firm.
  • The ability to work from home (or any other suitable location).
  • Competitive remuneration package including private health insurance.
  • A friendly and supportive culture.
  • The opportunity to be part of a world-leading and award winning team.
