Chinese law students: 5 reasons why City law firms want to hire you

For Chinese students who are studying or have studied law in England

If this is you, then congratulations! You have already achieved what very few people have achieved. You have positioned yourself in the middle of an incredibly exciting place, linking the growth, dynamism and scale of China with the long culture of the legal profession in England. London really needs you!

It may be that you don’t always feel as confident about your prospects of qualifying as an English solicitor as you should do. You might be worried about how you are going to compete with other, seemingly better qualified, students from the UK. You might even be wondering whether you’ve made a good decision to spend time and money trying to succeed as a lawyer here. London can be a lonely place if you don’t feel that you have the support and resources that you would want.

When our co-founder, Xiaofang, first arrived in the UK from Henan province, China, she experienced exactly those doubts and concerns. We don’t take for granted the help we received on the journey which led us to set up LCN Legal as an English law firm in London. (You can follow these links to find out more about who we are and what we do.)

We have written a report specifically for people in your situation. The aim of the report is very simple – to remind you why you can feel confident about the value that you bring. Why is this important? Because if you don’t believe in that value, it’s likely that other people won’t believe it either. Meaning that you lose a big part of the genuine competitive advantage that you have over other applicants for training contracts or legal jobs.

Supporting the Prince’s Trust

We are privileged to work with the fantastic JCI London Dare to Dream team and the Prince’s Trust, and we are sponsoring a project to help Chinese law students achieve the legal career they want.

Million Makers JCI Logos

We’re doing this by participating in a seminar in central London, which will give practical tips and advice specifically tailored for Chinese people. The seminar will be repeated on 3 dates, and access will be limited on a first come, first served basis.

All the proceeds from the seminars will go to the Prince’s Trust. The Prince’s Trust is a charity, founded by The Prince Charles, striving to inspire young lives. They support 13-30 year olds who are unemployed, and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion.
