The LCN Tax Interview: Bill Dodwell, Head of Tax Policy at Deloitte

We are delighted to have been able to interview Bill Dodwell, Head of Tax Policy at Deloitte, as part of our ongoing series of interviews with leading tax professionals. In it, he reveals some of the influences in his professional life, as well as his thoughts on key trends in the tax world.

What every tax professional should know about Intercompany Agreements: launching our new guide

We have launched a new guide to intercompany agreements for transfer pricing. It is designed for tax and transfer pricing professionals who want to put in place appropriate intercompany agreements for their multinational groups.

The guide provides practical information including:

  • The basic requirements of intercompany agreements
  • How to choose the best format for intercompany agreements
  • A 10-point checklist for reviewing intercompany agreements
  • A case study showing how this works. This is based on an anonymised real-life example.

The LCN Legal Interview: Dr Achim Hofmann, former European General Counsel at Sharp Electronics

This one is a little more personal, because Dr Hofmann was my first boss in a legal job. He was kind enough to employ me in his legal team at Sharp’s European headquarters in Hamburg. I had just finished law school and was about to start my legal traineeship. Dr Hofmann put up with my monumental ignorance and naivety – for which I am very grateful. Guest article: Stephen Hemmings on Changes to the Taxation of UK Residential Property

Many thanks to Stephen Hemmings, corporate tax director at Menzies (and former colleague from my days at KPMG) for this very useful overview of recent changes in tax law relating to UK residential property. Click here to read the article.

Is it possible to provide excellent professional services and be a good parent?

I believe it is, and I’m extremely excited that we’re currently going through the process of recruiting for corporate lawyers. We would love to talk to people who want to help us create something special.

Our business model means that we can offer great career opportunities for experienced, qualified lawyers and legal executives who want to work flexible hours, without compromising the quality of their work or their family commitments. My 90 day fitness challenge

If you’re anything like me, you might be a little flabbier and a little less toned than you would like. I’ve just started a 90-day challenge, which involves exercising 6 days a week. I’ll let you know how it goes. If you share this email with enough people, I might even show you the before and after photos (the first ones featuring an attractive farmer’s-style tan from our holiday in Cornwall).
