Why did you get into property?
After I graduated from Nottingham University in 2004 and got a job in London with a work permit allowing me to stay here longer, it seemed to be the next natural move to buy a property for myself to settle down and have some sort of base. From there, I developed interest and passion about property.
Who has been the most influential role model for your business life?
Well, quite a few. The first couple of names came to my mind were Oprah Winfrey and JK Rowling.
What’s the one thing you would want overseas investors know about investing in UK property?
“Difference” – Be aware of the differences, respect them and make use of them. That’s why I wrote the first bilingual business book (in English & Chinese) <Buy Smart: What you need to know when investing in UK properties> 《智慧买家：英国置业三部曲》
What single thing would make your business life easier?
To work with like-minded professionals will make my business life easier and more fun, I am lucky I do have some of those around me at the moment, which I appreciate very much.
In a movie of your life story, which actor would you like to play you?
Haha, that’s a cheeky question. If I have a chance to get a movie made out of my life, I would love to play it myself…. Currently, Helen Mirren is one of my favorite actresses and human beings.
What would be your dream job if you didn’t work in property?
I am doing my dream job at the moment in the way that I wanted. However, if I were not working in property, I would love to be a full time professional writer.
What do you do to relax?
Read, write and walk.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Thailand, Morocco, or any places that are colorful, exotic and chaotic.
What’s your biggest extravagance?
I am a saver not a spender, but I do have a soft spot for antiques and things to do with dogs.
What piece of advice would you give your 25 year old self?
Everything that happens is to help you to understand yourself better, so not to worry too much but do live consciously.
